Tottenham already slightly under pressure
This Tuesday UEFA Champions League continues with the seond round. In Groupe F CSKA Moscow hosts Tottenham Hotspur. The team from London is already a little bit under pressure after they have lost their first group game against Monaco. Kick-off is September 27 at 8.45 PM.
Current form CSKA Moscow
Former national team coach Leonid Slutski seems to do a god job at the Russian top club. CSKA is currently ranked second in Russian Premier League. They are only one point behind city rival Spartak Moscow. The results of the last couple of games weren’t always great though. The general rehearsal for the Champions-League-duel against Tottenham ended in a meagre 1:1 draw at home against Kuban Krasnodar. The self-confidence of Moscow probably isn’t very high right now. After all they also lost a couple of days before to second league team Ensey in the cup. On the other hand CSKA can count on their strength at home on Tuesday. Moscow is still undefeated in front of their home crowd this season. The first Champions-League game two weeks ago also gives reason to hope. They managed to come down from a 0:2 deficit and drew 2:2 against Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. With a victory Moscow could be four points before Tottenham in the ranking.
Current form Tottenham Hotspur
After a mediocre season start Tottenham is back on track in English Premier League. Last weekend they won against promoted team Middlesbrough 2:1. This was the third win in competitive games in a row. In the league Tottenham is still undefeated. After two draws against Liverpool (1:1) and Everton (1:1) and a win over Crystal palace (1:0) in the first three rounds the “Spurs” started an impressive series. Tottenham hasn’t lost a point nationally in four games. Additionally they didn’t receive one goal in three games in a row against Stoke (4:0), in the cup against Gillingham (5:0) and against AFC Sunderland (1:0). The only drop of bitterness is the first game of Champions League group phase. Tottenham lost 1:2 to Monaco at White Hart Lane. The draw in the parallel game helped Tottenham, but the team from London still wants to score their first points against CSKA: Unfortunately top striker Harry Kane won’t be able to play. He is out until mid-November due to an ankle injury. His replacement Vincent Janssen only scored once so far in the cup.
CSKA can be an unpleasant opponent for everybody at home. Tottenham has gained self-confidence in the last couple of weeks unlike Moscow. We still believe that no team will be able to celebrate a win after this game. Therefore our recommendation: Tip X.
