Watford faces star ensemble

Last year’s promoted team is playing FC Chelsea in the second round of the new Premier League season. Not an easy task, especially considering that the Londoners are full of self-confidence after their opening victory. Watford also performed well though in the first round. Kick-off is Saturday at 4 PM.

Current form FC Watford

Besides Hull City and Middlesbrough Watford also was able to surprise in the season opener. After all Coach Walter Mazzarri’s team was able to celebrate one point after the away game against Southampton. Many teams last season could only dream about that. The key to success was a steady defense. Coach Mazzarri was counting on a 3-5-2 System with an overload in the midfield, which was supposed to stop the counter attacks of the “Saints”. That wasn’t always successful, but Watford turned out to be the champion of efficiency. After the game the statistics showed only one shot at the goal, but this one shot turned into a goal by midfielder Étienne Capou. The Draw against the “Saints” is even more impressive, when you know that Prödl and Co. were playing with one man less in the last 20 minutes after Watson saw a red card after only 10 minutes of action. This week’s contract renewal until 2021 by last year’s top scorer Odion Ighalo should additionally lift Watford’s spirits. The Nigerian could turn out to be an essential part to success this season again.

Current form FC Chelsea

After last year’s miserable season FC Chelsea at least was able to win their season opener. In front of their home crowd they bet a strong West ham team 2:1. The game winning goal was only scored in the 89th minute though by striker Diego Costa. The “Blues” showed that they haven’t completely bought into new Coach Antonio Conte’s idea of playing yet. Conte counted – typically for Italians – on a defensive 4-1-4-1 System. The offensive artists on the team from London didn’t always like that. With Eden Hazard another offensive star was able to score a goal. Chelsea shot at the goal 12 times, half of those shots found their way towards West Ham’s goal. The “Blues” need to work on converting their chances into something countable and they need to act more determined on offense. Antonio Conte will miss John Obi Mikel on Saturday, who is still at the Olympics in Rio. Talent Mario Pasalic is also out at the moment. Additionally Chelsea is likely to get another goalie. Eduardo is said to leave Dynamo Zagreb and join the “Blues”. He will probably only be the number three behind Courtois and Begovic though.

Betting forecast

All that glitters is not gold yet for Chelsea. They are still the favorite against Watford. Quite possible that the duel of two Italian coaches will be a waiting game. In the end the favorite should succeed though. Our recommendation: Tipp 2.
