Tottenham wants to reap rewards
This Wednesday Tottenham Hotspur plays against AS Monaco in Group E. The team from London wants to reap the rewards for a great last season. AS Monaco on the other hand already played a great qualification. Kick-off at White Hart Lane is September 14 at 8.45 PM.
Current form Tottenham Hotspur
Mauricio Pochettino’s team had a mediocre start into the new Premier League season. At least if one considers the team’s performance. The “Spurs” are currently ranked fifth after four rounds. This might even be satisfying for the club’s management, but the team hasn’t performed well yet. It was only last weekend that they finally had a great game against currently last ranked Stoke city and won 4:0 away. Before that Tottenham drew against Liverpool (1:1) and won against Crystal Palace. In the season opener they drew against FC Everton (1:1). After not so great performances against Everton and Crystal Palace Kane and Co. seem to have picked it up though. Tottenham’s top scorer from last season Harry Kane finally was able to score his first season gaol against Stoke City. A great advantage for Tottenham is that all of their offensive players are likely to score. Apart from Kane Heung Min Son also scored two goals against the “Potters”. Additionally director and youngster Delle Alli scored his first goal of the season. Defensively the Ponchetti-Eleven is very stable. Only two received goals in four games prove that. So the chemistry seems to be right in the defensive line. A little question mark stands behind number one keeper Hugo Lloris.
Current form AS Monaco
The duel between AS Monaco and FC Villareal was one of the most exciting ones in the qualification round. The Monegasques first won 2:1 away and then fixated the Champions League spot with a 1:0 home victory. The 2004 finalist is currently the cream of the crop in Ligue 1. They lead the ranking after four rounds with 10 points. This season’s highlight so far was the 3:1 win at home against PSG. Monaco beat Paris thanks to a stable defense and a callous offense. Monaco only lost points once this season when they drew 2:2 in the season opener against EA Guingamp. Since then the Jardim-eleven is on a roll though and hasn’t lost a point in the last five competitive games. Additionally Monaco still has an acoount to settle with Tottenham. Last season the “Spurs” eliminated them from Europe League group phase. But the Monegasques should have good memories about London. They won their last game there against FC Arsenal at Wembley Stadium 3:1.
One can expect an exciting match. Monaco is full of self-confidence and Tottenham also picked it up after they struggled in the beginning of the season. We believe that Monaco will be able to steal one point from London. Our recommendation: Tip X.
