Exciting showdown in Trondheim
The duel between Norwegian traditional club Rosenborg Trondheim and Austria Vienna could become a real thriller. The result of the first leg promises 90 exciting minutes. Kick.off for the return match in Trondheim is Thursday at 7 PM.
Current form Rosenborg Trondheim
Many titled Trondheim the favorite before the game against Vienna, but then they lost 1:2. The so important away goal was only scored in the last couple of minutes of the game and it’s one of the biggest trumps that Kare Ingebrigtsen’s team has now. The general rehearsal for the return match at home didn’t go as planned last weekend. They were only able to draw 1:1 against Brann Bergen and so kept the distance to the 3rd placed team at the moment. Coach Ingebrigtsen didn’t experiment much in that game and let most of his key players play. A strategy that might backfire if it comes to overtime in the game on Thursday. Trondheim already proved though that they are able to perform well at home in international play. They won against APOEL Nikosia 2:1 for example or 3:1 against IFK Norrköpping. One can expect that Trondheim will try to put pressure on their opponent from the first minute on. Apart from long-time injured Yann-Eric de Lanlay Coach Ingebrigtsen has his whole team at disposal.
Current form Austria Vienna
Ascending form at Austria Vienna. Coach Thorsten Fink’s team was able to celebrate two wins in their last two games. The first victory came in the afore-mentioned game against Trondheim and the second one was last weekend’s 3:1 win against Altach, a team that hasn’t lost before this season. That game also proved that Austria has a strong bench. After all Fink was resting some key players and so the players that are otherwise used as jokers could prove themselves. And they were successful in doing so. Kevin Friesenbichler scored two goals and Ismael Tajouri was responsible for the third goal. The whole team showed morale after their losses to Rapid (1:4) and Sturm Graz (1:4). Additionally the last qualification round proved that Vienna is ready for a penalty shoot-out. Against
Trnava every Austria player scored and so fixated the promotion.
Rosenborg only needs one goal in order to go up. Austria Vienna performed better in the last couple of games and they do have the necessary players in order to be dangerous in Trondheim. Kayode for example is a really fast striker. We believe that Rosenborg will only manage a draw. Our recommendation: Tipp X.
