Everton plays in Manchester
This Saturday English Premier League has an interesting duel in store. Manchester City hosts FC Everton, which means that the current Premier League leader plays against the fifth ranked team. Kick-off is October 15 at 4 PM.
Current form Manchester City
Manchester City has been alone at the top of the league for quite some time. In between they accumulated impressive wins in Champions League and in the Cup. But these times seem to have passed – at least temporarily. Not only did ManCity show weaknesses on defense against Celtic Glasgow in Champions League and drew in the end 3:3, but they also surprisingly lost to Tottenham in Premier League. The “Spurs” disenchanted the Guardiola-Eleven and celebrated an absolutely deserved 2:0 victory. That game proved once more that the team from Manchester especially has problems against teams that play physically strong and have a compact defensive line. Additionally the leader lacked efficiency in front of the opposing goal. They had seven really good chances, but weren’t able to convert any of them. The absence of Kevin de Bruyne seems to hurt ManCity. Unfortunately the Belgian won’t be back for Saturday’s game. Vincent Kompany is also missed on defense. On the other hand the Guardiola team has performed really well at home this season so far and hasn’t lost a point in their stadium.
Current form FC Everton
FC Everton has been bugging the great clubs of English premier League for five game days. The team seemed to have found their old strengths again under new coach Ronald Koeman. The last couple of results seem to show the end of the “Toffee’s” peak performances though. After they have been unbeaten for five rounds and only lost points at the 1:1 draw against Tottenham, the team has not been able to win since then. First they were surprisingly eliminated from the cup in the third round against second league team Norwich City. Then they suffered their first loss in the Premier League. FC Bournemouth beat them 1:0. In the last game Everton only drew 1:1 against Crystal Palace, which means that they are now without a win for three games in a row. Additionally coach Ronald Koeman will miss the one or other player on Saturday. Especially captain and inside defender Phil Jagielka is questionable. The national team player is suffering a strain of his thigh, but he might be fit in time. Muhamed Besic on the other hand is out for sure and won’t be ready to play until 2017. Tyias Browning and Darron Gibson also threaten to miss the game. Additionally the “Toffees” have been stronger at home this season, so the game in Manchester will be really hard.
Both teams seem to be looking for their top form right now. Key players are either absent or not in top shape, which shows in the teams results. Manchester City will want to make up badly for the loss against Tottenham. Additionally the pole position in the rankings is at stake. We believe however, that the Guardiola-Eleven will still be on top of the league after the game. Our recommendation: Tip 1.
