Betting tip EURO 2016: Croatia - Portugal
Saturday, 25.06.2016 at 21:00 hour
Duel of the opposites
The group stage couldn’t have been more different for the rivals of the eighth final Croatia and Portugal. While Croatia was able to even put title holder Spain into place, the eleven of Fernando Santos is without a victory and had to hope for the eighth finals until the end. Kick-off on the 25th of June is at 9 p.m..
Current performance of Croatia
Small country very big! That’s the motto of Croatia in this EURO so far. With a little bit more than 4 million habitants Croatia is one of the smallest countries of all participants. However they still have made it to create a great team. At the group D which was one of the most difficult groups Ante Cacic was able to lead the table and therefore win the group. On the last day of play they have beaten the world and Europe champion Spain with a score of 2:1 and have underlined their role of secret tip for the EURO 2016. Before Modric & Co have beaten Turkey with a score of 1:0 and against the Czech Republic they have scored a drawn with a score of 2:2. On the last day of play against Spain Real Star Modric was missing but he will be fit again against Portugal. This may sound like a threat for Portugal at the moment. There is nearly no weakness at the Croatian squad, while the defence is strong the offensive play has also a lot of quality. Trainer Cacic was able to prepare his team perfectly for the next rival.
Current performance of Portugal
While their rival Croatia has started as an outsider in this group and only expected maybe the second position, Portugal was the favourite from the beginning to win this group where there also have been Austria, Iceland and Hungary. But it came not like it was expected. At the last three matches Portugal hasn’t shown a good performance. Either they haven’t been able to use the goal chances or the defence was too weak. Therefore the match against Iceland ended in a drawn with a score of 1:1 exactly like against Austria (0:0) and Hungary (3:3) and so they only got one point out of every match. Superstar Christiano Ronaldo was also in better shape, the performance against Iceland was improveable and against Austria he even didn’t scored a penalty kick. But in the end he scored two goals against Hungary and fixed the ticket for the eighth finals. If they would have lost against Hungary they would have been dropped out of the EURO. So now Portugal has the chance to improve and show their real talent, also Ronaldo seems to find back to his old strength. But with Croatia a real strong rival is waiting for them and due to the last shown performance Portugal is the outsider in this match.
Betting tip for this match
Portugal struggles at the moment to play their game and has been three times at a backlog against Hungary. Croatia already has shown that they can mean trouble for teams from the Iberian Peninsula. In addition Modric & Co are a close knit team what you cannot really say about Portugal. For Portugal speaks that they are not the clear favourite in this match and therefore have not very much pressure. Our tip: tip 1.
