Betting tip UEFA Europa League: KRC Genk - Athletic Bilbao
Thursday, 20.10.2016 at 21:05 o’clock
Stalemate in group F
Group F is one of the most exciting ones in Europe League before game day three. All four teams have three points so far. Thursday will be the duel between KRC Genk and Atlético Bilbao. Kick-off is October 20 at 9.05 PM.
Current form KRC Genk
Even though Peter Maes’ team had a weak start into the season and they are currently only ranked ninth in their league, their last results give reason to hope. They beat Mechelen (2:1) and drew 2:2 against Mouscroun last weekend. In the Europe League the team scored for the first time against Sassuolo thanks to a 2:1 victory. They lost their first game against Rapid Vienna however (2:3). The Maes-Eleven is now three games without a loss. The Belgians strengths are clearly on offense. Genk’s roster is full of players who are able to score. Offensive player Nikoloas Karelis for example scored two goals in the last game and he is the team’s best scorer with five goals in nine league games. Mbwana Samatta already scored four goals as well. Another one of Genk’s strengths is their wing game. Leon Bailey needs to be mentioned especially. The Jamaican played very well against Rapid and against Sassuolo. The statistic against Spanish clubs doesn’t favor Genk however. They have not been able to win any of the six games, drew four times and lost two games. Additionally the team often doesn’t play too smart in deciding moments, which is not a surprise considering their average age of only 23.7 years. Against Rapid for example, they have not been able to convert a lead at half time into points.
Current form Athletic Bilbao
Bilbao can be pretty satisfied with their results so far. They are currently ranked sixth in the Spanish Primera División and were able to win their last game against Real Sociedad 3:2. Before that game they lost to Malaga 1:2 though. They are currently lacking consistency in their results, because a couple of days before the Malaga game they won against Rapid Vienna 1:0. These were their first obtained points in Europe League this season. They lost in the first game day to Sassuolo 0:3, which was a little bit of a surprise. But Bilbao is also capable of competing with very strong teams. They proved that when they beat FC Sevilla 3:1. Bilbao is mainly struggling on defense. The game against Vienna was the only one of their last seven games without receiving a goal. Offensively on the other hand it was the only game in which Bilbao scored less than two goals. Additionally Bilbao counts as a good team in away games internationally (despite the loss in Sassuolo). They were able to win four of their last six away games in European competition. Additionally Bilbao’s offensive stars are currently in top shape. Against Sociedad Iker Muniain was able to score, as well as Inaki Williams and Aritz Aduriz, who is the team’s top scorer with five goals in eight league games.
The hosts are not doing too well in the Belgian league right now, despite two undefeated games in a row. Bilbao on the other hand performs really well currently, especially on offense. That’s why we are counting on the Spaniards second win in a row in Europe League. Our recommendation: Tip 2.
