Italy challenged in Israel at the start
Italy plays their first game in the World Cup qualification in Group G in Israel. Italy should be the favorite in this game, but Israel in front of their home crowd in Haifa is an uncomfortable challenge. Kick-off is Monday at 8.45.
Current form Italy
The currently 10th of the FIFA world ranking found out one thing in the game against France. Only 17-year-old Gianluigi Donnarumma has what it takes to be Italy’s number one. Italy didn’t perform well as a team though against France and so they received three goals. The only goal for Italy was scored by Pelle after preparation from Eder. Italy still believes in defensive stability and structured offense. Coach Ventura will only miss injured Daniele de Rossi on Monday. Leonardo Bonucco, who missed the game against France due to his son’s sickness, is back again too. Ventura won’t change the style of play much in the future. Italy will play their proven 3-5-2 system against Israel. Pelle and Éder will probably start on offense. Additionally they have another top striker on the bench, namely Ciro Immobile.
Current form Israel
Israel played their last international match on May 31 2016 and lost it 1:3 against Serbia. The game before that against Croatia was lost 0:2. After that game Coach Elisha Levy took over. He used to coach Maccabi Haifa and Hapoel Beer Sheva in the Israeli league before that. In the difficult group G with Italy and Spain, Israel won’t have much of a chance to go up, if they don’t play tremendously better. It’s hard to assess the Israeli national team; they might be good for the one or other surprise. Half of the players on the roster are legionnaires like Dabbur, who signed with RB Salzburg during the summer. Worth mentioning are also Natcho and Iior Raaelov from FC Brügge.
While Italy is the clear favorite, it would be a mistake to underestimate Israel. Israel should be stronger at home than away and so it might be a close game after all. We believe the game is going to end in a draw. Our recommendation: Tip X.
