France hopes for home win
After the disappointment of the loss in the final of the home tournament this summer, France is burning for the qualification for the World Cup 2018. On Friday Sweden stands in the way of the Equipe Tricolore. Kick-off is November 11 at 8.45 PM.
Current form France
The results of Didier Deschamps’ team in 2016 is simply impressive. France has played a total of 15 games since January and they only lost one of them. 12 games could be one and two games ended in a draw. So “Les Bleus” can play with confisence on Friday, after all they are playing in front of their home crowd. After a meager start into the qualification due to a disappointing 0:0 draw against Belarus, France has been picking up speed. First Bulgaria didn’t stand a chance and France showed moral in that game after they came back from a 0:1 deficit to win 4:1 in the end. Then they won the top duel of group A against the Netherlands 1:0. Therefore France has been undefeated for four games in arrow after the loss to Portugal in the EURO. Additionally Didier Deschamps has a world class roster. The fact that Alexandre Lacazette, who is a striker in absolute top shape currently, is not even on the team, proves that. It’s hard to find weak spots on the team. Maybe it’s their defense, after all the Deschamps-Eleven received at least two goals in four games this year.
Current form Sweden
After the disappointing elimination after the group phase at the EURO Sweden national team has undergone some changes. Old stars like goal keeper Andreas Isaksson and above all Zlatan Ibrahimovic won’t be on Sweden’s roster anymore on Friday. There has also been a change on the coaching bench. Janne Andersson is the new man on the sideline. Sweden is still undefeated since he took over and their results are similar to their opponent France’s. Emil Forsberg and Co. also drew in their first game against the Netherlands (1:1) and won two games afterwards against Luxemburg (1:0) and Bulgaria (3:0). Sweden is playing particularly well on defense under the new coach. They only received one goal in the last three games. Their offense could be better, even though bthey scored three goals against Bulgaria. The whole that Ibrahimovic left is obvious. Until now no player was able to score more than one goal in the qualification. Ola Toivonen showed some scorer qualities however. The striker scored one goal and gave one assist in two games so far. One of Sweden’s weapons is their wing game. Emil Forsberg (Leipzig) as well as Jimmy Durmaz (Toulouse) have been in top shape lately and have been a big part of their clubs’ successes.
All in all France has to be favored in front of their home crowd. But Sweden comes to France with self-confidence. We believe that the Swedes will be able to compete with France, but that they won’t score a point in the end. Our recommendation: Tip 1.
