FC Chelsea needs to follow suit
From all title contenders of the English Premier League FC Chelsea has to master the biggest task. They play against a strong Fc Southampton team. But Chelsea also performed really well in the last couple of weeks. Kick-off is October 30 at 5 PM.
Current form FC Southampton
At the beginning of the season it seemed like FC Southampton would not be able repeat last years’ successes under new coach Claude Puel. But like we said at the start of the season, it only took a couple of weeks until the team was familiar with the system of their new coach. After taking a relegation spot after four games days the team is currently ranked eighth and only lost one (!) of their last ten competitive games. They haven’t lost in the league for six games in a row now. They lastly won against FC Burnley (3:1) and last weekend they achieved a 1:1 draw against Manchester City. During the week they made it into the next round of the EFS Cup thanks to a 1:0 victory over Sunderland. The Puel-Eleven performs especially well in front of their home crowd, which is why it won’t be easy for Chelsea on Sunday. Additionally Southampton currently has the second best defense of the league with only eight received goals. Offensively they are struggling though. They were only able to score eleven goals so far. They only scored one more goal than currently second to last ranked Swansea City for example. Against Chelsea they will probably focus on a good defense anyway however.
Current form FC Chelsea
The champion of 2014 picked up courage again after a small low. After they haven’t lost a point in Premier League play in the first three rounds at the beginning of the season and were also successful in the cup, Antonio Conte’s team had to suffer two losses, before they went back onto the road of success. They have now worked up their way to the fourth place in the rankings. Lastly they haven’t received a goal in three league games in a row and won against Manchester United (4:0) for example. Hull City (2:0) and Leicester City (3:0) could also be beat. During the week Chelsea had a little set back again in the cup against West Ham (1:2). In this game a lot of regular players have been rested though. A lot of them won’t be able to play on Sunday either. Coach Conte has to deal with a lot of injuries. Kurt Zouma, Todd Kane, Marco van Ginkel and Cesc Fabregas will probably not play on Sunday. Especially the first and last mentioned would be important alternatives for the coach. Against West Ham Chelsea played weak on offense and wasn’t able to display their lastly usual efficiency. Chelsea is one team however, which is very dangerous in standard situations. The goal in the cup game proved that. If the team from London is struggling, then mostly in away games. The fact that they might obtain the leading position in the rankings, if the results of the game day play in their hands, should boost their self-confidence though.
As before mentioned FC Chelsea has to master a difficult task. There are more pleasant things than playing at Southampton at the moment. If one looks at the roster only, the “Blues” need to be favored. We believe however, that the “saints” will be able to rile the next “big” club. Our recommendation: Tip X.
