Betting tip Austria Bundesliga: FC Red Bull Salzburg - SKN St. Pölten

The champion faces the promoted team
Actually the match between the reigning champion Red Bull Salzburg and the promoted team St.Pölten should be clear cut. But after the performances that we’ve seen this is not necessarily the case. The Newcomer has proven that it can hurt any opponent, while Salzburg hasn't really picked up speed yet. Kick-off is Saturday at 6.30 pm.

Internationally top, nationally flop. That's how to best sum up the ongoing season of the reigning champion of the Austrian Bundesliga so far. While the team of coach Oscar Garcia is still without loss of point and hasn't received a goal yet in the Champions League Qualification, Salzburg couldn't get in gear in the Austrian league so far. First they rightfully lost 1:3 against SK Sturm Graz and then they were only able to accomplish a meager 1:1 draw against Wolfsberger AC. The "Bull's" goal resulted from a (flattering) penalty. However some core players were rested in the league for the return match against Partizani Tirana, which was won 2:0. With that Salzburg at least secured the qualification for the group phase of Euroleague play. Now a great pressure has fallen from the players, which could result in better performance in the Bundesliga as well. So far neither the results nor the way the team played was satisfying. Nonetheless Oscar Garcia is betting on a 4-3-3 system, in which for example new arrival Munas Dabbur wasn't able to shine yet. With Marc Rzatkowski another new arrival is sidelined for now. On the other hand coach Garcia will soon be able to put Christoph Leitgeb back on the field. The midfielder missed the greater part of last season, but has started to participate in team practice.
Current form SKN St. Pölten
It's done. The first win of St. Pölten after returning to Austria's top league is home and dry. "Due to" a last minute goal of Manuel Hartl in the lower Austria Derby against Admira. Only in minute 94 the three points were fixated and could rehabilitate itself from the bitter opening loss in the last seconds against Austria. With four points out of two games St. Pölten is now the number five in the stands, while their opponent Salzburg only has one point and is second to last. The carefreeness of a promoted team could be the greatest trump of the Lower Austrians on Saturday. St. Pölten can play without pressure in the "Arena of Bulls", while everybody is expecting a win from Salzburg. Also Coach Karl Daxbacher will have noticed that free kicks and corners are instrumental against a defense that wasn't very strong lately, especially since his team frequently scores after such situations. Additionally the promoted team can play with their absolute top players and is full of confidence after their first Bundesliga win.
A very exciting match up. Salzburg has lost its stride lately and needs to deliver in front of their home crowd. St. Pölten could rid themselves from pressure after their win against Admira and probably is already satisfied with one point. But we are counting on the champion to win in front of their home crowd. therefore our recommendation: Tipp 1.
