London Derby is smash hit of the round
After Tuesday and Wednesday games during the week, English premier League play continues on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday brings a real classic, namely the London Derby between FC Chelsea and FC Arsenal. Kick-off is February 4 at 1.30 PM.
- home court advantage
- extremly strong defensively
- opponent has been struggling in away games lately
- won first season duel
- relies in striker in top form
Current form FC Chelsea
The foreseen draw against FC Liverpool past Tuesday couldn't change the fact that the "Blues" are still leading the standings. Chelsea even had the chance to win that game too, but Diego Costa failed to score a penalty shot against Liverpool keeper Simon Mignolet. The draw against the "Reds" was the first point loss of the Conte-Eleven after two wins in arrow. Chelsea's total record of the recent past is very impressing. The team from London only lost one of their last 17(!) league games and they are still competing in the FA-Cup too. At Stamford Bridge they only had to endure one loss in 2016/2017 so far and they won 10 home games. Additionally their lead would still be six points, if they lost against Arsenal. That's why the Conte-Eleven shouldn't feel too much pressure. The "Blues'" strengths are a very steady defense and their wing game. Left defender Marcos Alonso for example already has 5 scorer points this season (3 goals, 2 assists). Additionally coach Conte can use all of his key players on Saturday. On the other hand Chelsea clearly lost the first season duel against the "Gunners" 0:3.
Current form FC Arsenal
While Saturday's opponent Chelsea can be satisfied with the draw against Liverpool, Arsenal is probably mad about not having used the chance to get closer to the league leader. The "Gunners" surprisingly lost against FC Watford 1:2 at home at Emirates Stadium. Before that game the team from London has showed an improving form with wins against FC Burnley (2:1) and Swansea City (4:0). Until Tuesday they only lost once at home. Against Watford 65% ball possession went unused and Arsenal missed some good opportunities to score more goals. Additionally the team didn't seem to be very focused in the beginning of the game and received both goals in the first 15 minutes. Therefore the "Gunners" have the role of the outsider on Saturday, after all they will miss three important alternatives in the midfield center, namely Xhaka, Elneny and Cazorla. Last year's runner up also didn't perform very well in away games lately. They were only able to win one of their last four away games, they lost two games and drew in one. Apart from this season's record against the "Blues", the "eternal" statistic speaks for the Wenger-Eleven. Arsenal was able to win 32 of a total of 81 duels with the city rival.
Chelsea is pretty lonely at the top of the ranking. Therefore it's not to be expected that the "Blues" will lose like they did in the first game against Arsenal. We believe that the Conte-Eleven will be able to celebrate a win in this derby. Our recommendation: Tip 1.
