Betting tip UEFA Champions League: Dinamo Zagreb - FC Red Bull Salzburg
Tuesday, 16.08.2016 at 20:45
Who will take the last Step?
A lot of teams are just two games away from realizing their dream of playing in the Champions League. Tuesday the first couples of teams are fighting for a good starting position for the retour match. Dynamo Zagreb for example will face Red Bull Salzburg. Kick-off is August 16 at 8.45 PM.
Current form Dynamo Zagreb
The Croatian Champion is eager to play in the Champions League again just like last year. Coaching legend Zlatko Kranjcar had to let go some important key players from the 2015/2016 season though. Shooting Star Marko Pjaca signed with Italian champion Juventus Turin, after he played very well in the European Championships for France. Another great talent, namely Josip Breckalo, went to Vfl Wolgsburg. Additionally Marko Rog signed with SSC Neapel a couple of days ago. But Zagreb, a club with one of the best talent factories in Europe, is used to that kind of player exit after a successful season. Coach Kranjcar still has a powerful team, which is particularly strong on offense. The inside defenders on the other hand are not the fastest ones around. But Zagreb is still on top of the Croatian League after scoring 13 points in five games. Dynamo is still undefeated; they only had to take one draw in the season opener. Additionally the Croatians can count on their home court advantage in the first game. With their passionate fans this advantage could very well turn into a disadvantage though, should they not play well.
Current form Red Bull Salzburg
While their opponent Zagreb nearly started flawless into the new season, Red Bull Salzburg had to put up more fight in the Austrian Bundesliga. They lost their season opener against Sturm Graz, followed by a 1:1 draw against WAC. In the last two weeks the team seems to have turned things around nationally and so they won 2:0 against St. Pölten and against Ried. The performance against Ried especially gives reason to believe, that there is a chance against Zagreb. The “Bulls” finally want to make it into Champions League in their 9th attempt. In order to reach that goal, goalgetter Jonathan Soriano was rested in Bundesliga play, just like some other key players. Salzburg has good memories concerning Dynamo. Two years ago in Europe League Salzburg won 4:2 at home and in Zagreb they defeated Dynamo 5:1. One cannot expect results like those on Tuesday though. Zagreb is the slight favorite. Salzburg has going for them however, that they so far won every game internationally this season and they haven’t even received a goal yet.
A duel at eye-level. Zagreb probably has more quality offensively on their roster, it will be interesting to see though how well they can cope with the players leaving, when they have to prove themselves internationally. Additionally Salzburg showed uprising form lately. We believe that the “bulls” will obtain a good starting position for the retour match. Our recommendation: Tipp X.
