Wednesday, 01.02.2017 at 20:45
A top match in Scotland
This Wednesday gives us the duel of currently ranked first and third in the Scottish Premiership. We are talking about the game between serial champion Celtic Glasgow and FC Aberdeen. Kick-off is February 1 at Celtic Parc at 8.45 PM.
- still haven't lost a point at home
- won both season duels so far
- very strong offensivley
- haven't received a goal in past two games
- four wins in last four league games
Current form Celtic Glasgow
There is nothing to argue about Glasgow being the favorite in the game against the currently third ranked team. Brendan Rodgers team is one of very few teams in whole Europe, which hasn't lost a single game in 2016/2017. The closest thing to a loss was a 2:2 draw against Inverness on September 18 2016. Their last results were a clear 4e:0 win against Heart of Midlothian and a 2:1 win away in the Old-Firm-Derby against the Glasgow Rangers. Their home record is particularly impressing. They were able to celebrate 11 wins in 11 games. Celtic also played very well against Wednesday's opponent this season. They already played twice against Aberdeen and easily won 4:1 at home and 1:0 away. The Rodgers-Eleven is particularly strong on offense. They scored an unbelievable 59 goals in 22 games, which is almost three goals per game. They indeed were able to celebrate three goals or more in almost half of their games. More than a third of all goals were scored by the striker duo Scott Sinclair and Ousmane Dembélé.
Current form FC Aberdeen
Third ranked Aberdeen is currently an unbelievable 24(!) points behind league leader Celtic Glasgow. Therefore the guests' goal for Wednesday will be to score a point in order to stay close to currently second ranked Glasgow Rangers. The fact that coach Derek McInnes can use the whole roster gives reason to hope, because Aberdeen can only compete with the serial champion with their strongest eleven. Additionally the team from the capital will have to play without the one or other key player. As mentioned Aberdeen lost the first two games against Glasgow this season, however. They played pretty impressive in the last couple of weeks though. They were able to win their last four league games. Their defense was particularly strong in the past two games. They haven't received a goal against Dundee (3:0) as well as against Heart of Midlothian (1:0). Aberdeen also can rely on a real goal getter. Left outfielder Niall McGinn collected no less than 11 scorer points in 21 games so far. Therefore he either scores or gives an assist every other game on average. Additionally Aberdeen's midfield is pretty dangerous. Three different midfield players have scored three or more goals this season. Unfortunatley the currently third ranked team has npt been as successful as they want to be in away games. Although they have been able to win six season games, just like in the home stadium, they also had to endure four of their five season losses in away games.
Aberdeen can present some impressive results from the last couple of weeks. If the opponent wasn't Celtic Glasgow, the guests would probably be the favorites. Since they do have to play at Glasgow, the currently third ranked team probably won't be able to score their first points of the season against the league leader. Celtic simply is too dominant at home. Our recommendation: Tip 1.
