The top duel of the South America qualification
It’s a duel that electrifies the masses of both countries as well as is of interest of the whole football world. We are talking about the game between the two supposedly strongest teams of South America, Brazil and Argentina. Kick-off is Thursday at 0.45 AM CET.
Current form Brazil
One simply can’t argue about the quality of Brazil’s roster. They have one or more world class players on each position. Additionally their last results in South America qualification group A speak a clear language. The team of former professional player Tite is still undefeated in four games in 2016. Lastly they won 2:0 in Venezuela. The Brazilian fans and federation probably is particularly happy about the fact that the Selecao finally has a real center striker again. We are talking about Juan Jesus, who has been able to get on the scorers list against Venezuela. Otherwise Brazil has a very dangerous midfield. Their three most successful scorers right now are midfielders, namely Philipe Coutinho, Renato Augusto and Lucas Lima. Additionally Brazil has been playing steady defense lately. The Tite-Eleven only received one goal in their last four games. They won 2:0 against Venezuela, 5:0 against Bolivia, 2:1 against Colombia and 3:0 against Ecuador.
Current form Argentina
The World Cup finalist of 2014 has a similar strong roster as Brazil. Unlike their opponent Argentina surprisingly lost their last qualification game against outsider Paraguay (0:1). This was the second loss in four games in 2016 and they were only able to win one of these games. The absence of Lionel Messi was more than obvious against Paraguay. FC Barcelona’s superstar will be back on Thursday though. The age structure of the team might be a problem for Argentina, especially against the fast offensive players of Brazil. Angel Correa is the only player of the “Gauchos”, who is younger than 24 years. Therefore Argentina is living of their experience. Apart from Messi Sergio Aguero is supposed to score needed goals. The striker has been in top shape at his club Manchester City lately. Edgardo Bauza’s team’s weakness has been defense in the past. They only didn’t receive a goal once in the last four games. In total they received five goals. They also have not been able to win any of their last three games.
The current form speaks for Brazil. Lionel Messi won’t be able to win against Brazil by himself. Additionally the hosts have been playing pretty good defense lately. We believe that Brazil will be able to celebrate a close home win on Thursday. Our recommendation: Tip 1.
