Can Stuttgart pull sensation?
It’s a duel that’s Bundesliga worthy, when Borussia Mönchengladbach plays at home against Vfb Stuttgart in the German Cup on Tuesday. The guests hope to be able to surprise, after all the Schubert has not been performing in top form lately. Kick-off is October 25 at 8.45 PM.
Current form Borussia Mönchengladbach
Gladbach’s biggest advantage on Tuesday is their home strength. In front of their home crowd Borussia probably can compete with every top team in Europe right now. The unlucky 1:2 loss after a lead against FC Barcelona proves that. In the German Bundesliga Mönchengladbach has been struggling in the last couple of weeks. On the last game day they were deservedly beat by FC Bayern Munich 0:2. The record champion was clearly the better team and Borussia didn’t know what to do on offense especially. Raffael’s absence due to injury seems to hurt them immensely. The loss against Munich was the third Bundesliga game in a row without being able to score. Additionally the “Fowls” have not been able to win any of these games either. At least they were able to celebrate a 2:0 victory over Celtic Glasgow in the Chmapions League. The loss to Munich was the first one at home in 2016/2017 however. Coach Schubert still misses important alternatives on defense though in the game against the second league team. Christensen and Dominguez are probably out and talents Schulz and Doucouré are currently injured.
Current form Vfb Stuttgart
The relegation last season was the negative high point of a very long crisis. Currently they are trying to get a feel for the first league again in the second league. They are not fully successful though. Stuttgart won last weekend against 1860 Munich 2:1, but the game before that was bitterly lost 0:5 against Dynamo Dresden. At least coach Hannes Wolf seems to have been able to get that loss out of his players’ heads pretty fast. Before the loss to Dresden, Stuttgart has been undefeated for four games. They won against current league leader Braunschweig 2:1. Vfb Stuttgart seems to like away games. They have been able to win twice away in 2016/2017 and drew once. Their current fourth place in the ranking still is not what Stuttgart hoped for. They are especially struggling on defense. The fact that they didn’t receive a goal only twice this season proves that. The results against Borussia last year also don’t speak for Stuttgart, because they lost both games (1:3 and 0:1).
Borussia seems to currently struggle especially nationally, while Stuttgart is performing well for most parts. Stuttgart is lacking consistency however. They showed that they can compete with strong teams in the game against Braunschweig though. That’s why we are counting on a draw after regular playing time. Our recommendation: Tip X.
