Gladbach's long-distance duel with Manchester City
When Mönchengladbach plays against Celtic Glasgow on Tuesday in Champions League group C, they smell a chance to obtain the second place. Competitor Manchester City needs to play against Barcelona. Kick-off for the game against the Scottish club is November 1 at 8.45 PM.
Current form Borussia Mönchengladbach
Borussia Mönchengladbach is currently looking for their form especially in league play. They are ranked eleventh and have not been able to win last weekend either against eintracht Fankfurt (0:0). They are still mainly struggling on offense. The goalless draw against Frankfaurt already was the second one in two and a half weeks. In total they have not scored in the last four Bundesliga games. They also didn’t score a goal against HSV (0:0), Bayern (0:2) and Schalke (0:4). At least they won the difficult game in Glasgow 2:0, as well as the cup game against Vfb Stuttgart last week (2:0). Defensively Gladbach seems to have improved. It’s bitter though, that goal getter Raffael won’t be able to play on Tuesday. He is still injured. Gladbach can trust their home strength however. André Schubert’s team is still undefeated in national competitions at home this season and they also performed well in the last Champions League home game against FC Barcelona, even though they lost (1:2). Unfortunately not only Raffael won’t be able to play against Glasgow, but Dominguez, Christensen, Traoré and Hazard are also more than questionable for Tuesday’s game. Hazard especially has been very dangerous this season and so his absence would be especially bitter.
Current form Celtic Glasgow
The home game against Gladbach was Celtic’s great chance for a possible spot to qualify for the top 16. But because they lost in front of their home crowd they are now under great pressure. If Brendon Rodgers team loses on Tuesday and Manchester City scores against Barcelona they don’t stand a chance anymore. In the Scottish league they are still undefeated and only drew once in ten games. Lastly they won against their first pursuer Aberdeen 1:0. Glasgow is very dependent on individual players this season however. We are mainly talking about Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembélé. If those two players can’t score, the Rodgers-Eleven is in trouble. Additionally Celtic showed that they are not very strong in away games in the Champions League. They had to endure a 0:7 loss to FC Barcelona and also lost in the qualification against Hapoel Beer Sheva 0:2. They weren’t even able to win against a weaker Astana team (1:1). Glasgow is especially struggling on defense against stronger teams. So it is quite unfortunate that Dedrick Boyata and Kieran Tierney, who are two alternatives on defense, won’t be able to play.
The fact that Gladbach could take the second place in the group, if the result of the parallel game plays in their hands, should be enouch motivation for Borussia. Unfortunately the Germans have to deal with a lot of injuries. We still believe that the Schubert-Eleven can use their home strength and therefore will win against Celtic. Our recommendation: Tip 1.
