Betting tip UEFA Champions League: Borussia Mönchengladbach - BSC Young Boys Bern
Wednesday, 24.08.2016 at 20:45 hour
Gladbach holds all trumps
Lucky or not. Nobody will ask about that anymore in the Champions League. Otherwise Borussia would have to justify themselves. The win in Bern in the first leg has a foul taste to it. Because auf their loss at home Bern’s chances for Champions League are extremely slim. Kick-off for the return match is Wednesday at 8.45 PM.
Current form Borussia Mönchengladbach
Coach André Schubert’s can already plan for Champions League after the game in Bern; after all they won 3:1. One of the goals was scored from a clear offside position however; another one was a lucky deflected long-distance shot. Especially in the beginning of the game Gladbach was the far better team though. Bern only woke up after the first goal from Borussia. The strength of the Schubert eleven lay on offense. One little disadvantage for Borussia: They have only played one competitive game so far and that was the cup game against lower-league SV Drochtersen. The match against the 4th league club was played by the B-eleven, who barely won 1:0. Last year’s 4th of the German Bundesliga wasn’t very persuasive in the cup game, but it can be assumed that Borussia will show a different face against Bern and that another strating eleven will be on the field then. In their test games of the 2016/2017 season Mönchengladbach was able to accumulate six wins and also a draw against Wednesday’s opponent Young Boys Bern. Such a draw would be enough for the promotion.
Current form Young Boys Bern
Coach Adi Hütter’s team is playing quite well right now. That’s why it’s so bitter that they were defeated at home in an unlucky manner. Apart from the nervousness in the beginning Bern’s performance was good. So there is still a tiny bit of hope left for a big sensation in Switzerland. After all they were able to celebrate wins before and after the game against Borussia. One could see the team’s quality in the 6:0 cup victory against SC Veltheim for example, or in the general rehearsal for the return match last weekend, when Bern sent Lausanne home with a clear 7:2. So now Bern is on third place in the Swiss Super League. The third round of Champions League qualifications showed however that Bern isn’t necessarily a strong away team. They were able to overcome Shakthar Donezk, but they lost with 0:2 in the Ukraine. Additionally Guillaume Horeau might be out due to injury on Wednesday. He is the team’s top scorer and scored four goals in five league games so far. Horeau is battling a muscle injury and already had to leave the field after 19 minutes against Lausanne because of it.
A lost home game, personality issues – the starting position could be better for Bern. Gladbach on the other hand can play with a well-rested team; some key players were spared lately. So it will be very unlikely that Borussia won’t lock down a Champions League spot on Wednesday. Our recommendation: Tipp 1.
