Promoted team needs to withstand Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund and Freiburg only had a couple of days break before their duel against each other on Friday. Both teams have been successful lately. Kick-off at Signal-Iduna-Parc is on September 23 at 8.30 PM.
Current form Borussia Dortmund
There are no signs anymore of the struggles from the beginning of the season at last year’s vice-champion. Thomas Tuchel’s team has exploded in the last couple of games and they didn’t care whether they played against big names either. Best proof is the game from Tuesday against Vfl Wolfsburg, who is not necessarily a no-name club. BVB beat them 5:1 at home. These were the goals number 13-17 in the last three games. Before they won the Chmapions League game against Legia Warsaw and against Darmstadt 6:0. It’s impressive how well the many new players gel. Especially the wings bring a lot of dynamic to the game of the team in yellow and black. But one shouldn’t forget to mention the outside defenders either. Lukas Piszcek for example was very active in the game against Wolfsburg and he was able to score his first season goal. The only downside in the last days and weeks have been injuries, which are especially hurting the defensive line. On Tuesday one more defender got hurt, namely Mark Batra.
Current form SC Freiburg
The club from Freiburg is nothing short from Dortmund possibility wise. The team from Breisgau celebrated their hard fought for and well-deserved second season win on Tuesday. We already mentioned the strong bench players in our forecast for the game against Hamburg. The deciding goal against HSV was once again scored by a joker off the bench, namely Nils Peterson. The deciding goals fell in the second half again. It already could be seen a couple of times this season, that Streich’s team becomes stronger the longer the game is going on. That proves that Freiburg is in good physical shape. So far the injured defenders could be compensated well. It will be interesting to see though, whether they will be able to do that against the offensive power of Dortmund as well. Freiburg will count again on their fast transition game and their efficiency in front of the goal. While Hamburg shot at the goal more often, Freiburg was the winner in the end. One problem of the Streich-Eleven is however, that they haven’t been able to win away yet. Both away games were lost. That’s why Dortmund is the favorite for Friday’s game.
It’s a game between two teams that have gained self-confidence lately. Especially BVB has gained momentum since the loss to Leipzig and they haven’t lost a point since then. That’s why we don’t think that Freiburg will be able to steal a point from Dortmund. BVB is just too strong at the moment. Our recommendation: Tip 1.
