Group F's top duel
This duel may very well be the final of this year’s Champions League as well. We are talking about the match between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid. The signs are quite different before this game. Kick-Off is Tuesday at 8.45 PM at Signal-Iduna-Parc.
Current form Borussia Dortmund
Borussia did its part to restore the order in German Bundesliga. After a fair to middling start they have worked their way up to second place in the league thanks to wins over Darmstadt (6:0), Wolfsburg (5:1) and the last game against promoted team SC Freiburg (3:1). Especially on offense Dortmund is performing very well since the “Zero Figure” against Leipzig (0:1). The start into Champions League also went well for the team in black and yellow. Group underdog Legia Warsaw didn’t stand and chance and was defeated 6:0. But not only are the offensive players on a roll currently, Dortmund also plays steady defense. Additionally the outside defenders are dangerous to score a goal. More than a third of Dortmund’s last eight goals were scored by outside defenders. In the last game against Freiburg Lukas Pisczek and new signee Raphael Guerrero were able to score. On offense Borussia can once again count on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The striker already scored five goals in four Bundesliga games.
Current form Real Madrid
While opoonent Dortmund went back on the road to success in the last couple of weeks, the defending champion is struggling a little bit. Even though Real also won their first Champions League game against Sporting (2:1), this game wasn’t a sure thing the whole time. Additionally Primera División didn’t go as planned lately. The Zidane-Eleven wasn’t able to win their last two games. They had to settle with a 2:2 draw against surprise team Las Palmas. Real wasn’t able to bring home a lead twice. A couple of days earlier the game against Villareal also ended in a meagre 1:1. Also Madrid apparently doesn’t like to play in Germany. The “White Ballet” was only able to win four of 29 games in Germany. Additionally superstar Ronaldo is currently looking for his top shape. Two goals in six league games are a little bit disappointing for a player of his caliber. Nevertheless Real is coming to Dortmund with the self-confidence of a league leader. The Madrilenians are currently ranked first before FC Barcelona and they haven’t lost a game away this season. The last couple performances rather speak for the opponent however.
It’s hard to foresee the result of this match. It’s hard to imagine, that Real Madrid stays without a win in three games in a row. Because of the current form of Borussia Dortmund this scenario is not unrealistic though. Additionally the so-called “Key Players” of BVB are in top shape unlike the stars of Real Madrid. Our recommendation: Tip X.
