Betting tip 1st German Bundesliga: 1. FC Köln - RB Leipzig
Sunday, 25.09.2016 at 17:30 hour
Sunday's top match
It’s probably the most interesting game of the fifth round. We are talking about the duel between 1. FC Cologne and promoted team RB Leipzig. Both teams started very well into the season and want to continue like that on Sunday. Kick-off is September 25 at 5.30 PM.
Current form 1. FC Cologne
The fans of 1. FC Cologne have to deal with a situation right now that they haven’t been used to in the last couple of years. “Their” club is among the top teams of the German Bundesliga. They are still undefeated after four rounds and celebrated two wins in the last two games. Whoever believes this is simply due to an easy program is very wrong. After an unpleasant season opener against Darmstadt (2:0) Cologne played against Wolfsburg (0:0), promoted team Freiburg (3:0) and at last against Schalke 04 (3:1). All of them are anything else but easy opponents. The Stöger-Eleven especially impresses on defense at the moment. They only received their first goal of the season against Schalke on Wednesday. And on offense Cologne is still ice cold. Stöger’s team is counting on a fast transition game. They don’t need much ball possession in order to be successful. Against Schalke they only had 38% ball possession and still shot at the goal more often than their opponent. It’s a big plus for Cologne that the greater part of the team already plays together for a while now. Additionally the Stöger-Eleven is still flawless in front of their home-crowd. In two home games they achieved a total score of 5:0.
Current form RB Leipzig
The promoted team from Leipzig can also be very satisfied with their season so far. Leipzig is coached by an Austrian as well, namely Ralph Hasenhüttl, which makes the game on Sunday even more explosive. Leipzig is currently ranked sixth thanks to two wins and two draws. The promoted team is playing with a very young team most of the time. This lack of experience (the starting eleven against Gladbach had an average age of 24.4 years) might backfire against really strong teams though. With a little bit more experience Leipzig might have been able to save the 1:0 lead over Borussia on Wednesday. Instead they received the equalizing goal shortly before the end of the game. Nevertheless the balance between offense and defense seems to be right in Leipzig. In the last game against the Schubert-Eleven they had way more chances than their opponent (8:2 shots at the goal). Leipzig’s last away game also gives reason to be hopeful. In the third round they beat HSV 4:0 in Hamburg. Additionally the Hasenhüttl-Eleven has a very dangerous player on their team right now. Timo Werner scored three goals in the last two games.
Defensively Cologne has slight advantages. The Stöger-Eleven can also count on their home crowd. Leipzig performed really well on offense lately, but wasn’t always so great on defense. We believe that it is going to be an extremely exciting game with the better end for the home team. Our recommendation therefore: Tip 1.
