Within our 18bet report, we subject this young online bookmaker to an extensive test, taking a close-up look at different categories such as betting products, odds and user-friendliness. 18bet was founded in 2012 and is headquartered in Gibraltar. In addition, the company has a betting license from Curacao, meaning there are no concerns with respect to professionalism or trustworthiness. With a specialized offer, an attractive website and an up-and-coming live-betting area, this newcomer is now looking to establish itself in the German-speaking market, since 18bet is not yet well-known in this country. Through our 18bet test report, we look to change that situation, describing in detail the experiences we had in the course of our research

BETTING PRODUCTS - 18bet brings a focused betting product to the market

With its betting products, 18bet presents a concise offer that earns this young online bookmaker a place in the lower mid-range. As with most other sports-betting providers, we also noticed a clear focus on football, with a large selection of leagues and competitions available. In addition to professional leagues from acclaimed football nations such as England, Spain, Germany and France, we also discovered leagues from lesser-known countries such as Sudan, Zimbabwe and Gambia in our 18bet test. For some European associations, there were also opportunities to bet at the amateur level: For example, in addition to amateur leagues from England or Germany, we encountered similar competitions in smaller countries such as Austria. In our 18bet test, we also found various ways to bet on women's football. In terms of betting markets, there was nothing really exciting, but there was certainly no shortage of options either: In the big European leagues, the average number of betting options ranged between 60 and 80, which once again puts 18bet in the mid-range of our test. A few points were deducted, however, for the lack of lesser-known disciplines and marginal sports, a situation we also came across when looking at other online bookmakers. 18bet offers only 11 sports on its website, which includes classics such as tennis, rugby or ice hockey. However, these sports are an absolute must for any betting provider, which is why we do not award any additional points in our 18bet test. Cricket, E-sports and virtual sports are completely missing on the 18bet site, which drops this young online bookmaker even farther back in our bookmaker test. Due to their limited offer, which is in some regards slightly below the industry average, those tipsters who are not particularly keen on variety and who are satisfied with relatively few sports are likely to have good experiences on 18bet. That said, 18bet is highly attractive when it comes to football, since amateur and women's football are not yet represented on every bookmaker’s website. For online casino fans, the young bookmaker also has a number of opportunities in store. Bearing all of this in mind, we give 14/20 points in our 18bet test.

BETTING ODDS- In football, we were able to find surprisingly strong odds on 18bet

In our 18bet test, in addition to the average payout margin, we also examined the odds offered for different type of bet. In terms of football, 18bet offers a payout of 94%, which puts the young bookmaker in the upper segment of our overall rating scale. In the major European leagues, that percentage can rise up to a value of 97%, a good experience that also results in a positive rating in our bookmaker test.
We found goal-scoring bets as well as over/under bets to be particularly rewarding, where we were able to obtain excellent odds in our 18bet test. However, in some cases the odds fall drastically in less well-known leagues and other sports: For example, the odds offered by this bookmaker in the Norwegian Tippeligaen, at 92%, are only average, while those for handball were only minimally better. For individual volleyball matches, however, the payout once again rose to 96%. In addition, in our 18bet report we note that the odds are extremely stable, remaining relatively constant from initial publication until the beginning of the match. In summary, 18bet competes with competitive odds, odds which in some instances represent top value, something quite unusual for such a young bookmaker. However, in the course of our 18bet test we also found that odds may vary widely depending on the sport, league and type of bet, which is why we recommend keeping a close eye on the payout percentage, especially for smaller and lesser-known events. For those tipsters who are exclusively at home in the major European football leagues, we highly recommend the odds offered at 18bet, drawing particular attention to the high payout percentage on over/under bets. In our 18bet test, this online bookmaker, in business since 2012, was able to convince us, which is why we award 17/20 points.

LIVE BETS - Exciting offer with great potential

In recent years, live betting has become more and more important in the online betting sector, which is why we also go into this category of our 18bet test in some detail. When looking at the possibilities for live bets on 18bet, our experiences were very similar to those pertaining to their betting products: Here, football dominated as expected, not only with matches from the world’s best leagues, but also lower-level events such as the German U19 Bundesliga and the Spanish Tercera Division. Within the timeframe of our research, we also determined that the bookmaker’s live betting selection includes tennis, basketball and volleyball. When it came to their betting markets, we were able to make an interesting observation: In our 18bet test, a number of live events offered significantly more opportunities for bets than did standard bets. In some cases, more than 100 betting markets per event are available on 18bet, which, in our experience, represents considerable value. However, the average number when it comes to live bets is right around 30, but this still suffices to keep this betting provider in the mid-range. Based upon our observation, the design of the live betting site leaves a little to be desired: Though the overall web presence of 18bet is successful due to its clear layout and strong color contrasts, the live betting area lags significantly. While the general distinction between sports and leagues is excellent, a little more boldness in the choice of color scheme certainly wouldn’t hurt: In terms of clarity, a dark-gray font on light-gray background is not exactly anything to write home about, which we therefore note as a deficiency in our 18bet report. Clicking on the individual live events opens a live center, which was fortunately maintained in the same style as the rest of the website, making it easier to navigate. Once there, a live animation of the current match as well as various statistics aid betting decisions, while you are also presented with the odds for various betting markets currently being offered. The odds are updated in real time, with movement indicated by a small green or red arrow. Unfortunately, within the scope of our 18bet test we were not able to locate a live stream for any of the events being offered, leading to a slight deduction of points. Furthermore, the limitation of betting products in general is clearly reflected in the live betting as well, which is why, in this category of our 18bet test, we were only able to award an average rating: 7/10 points.

BETTING BONUS - Classic 100% bonus with tricky betting requirements

USER-FRIENDLINESS - In our 18bet test, there was little to complain about

In the course of our 18bet test, of course, we put the website through its paces as well. The design of this young bookmaker’s website is dark, though its clear structure and intuitive menu navigation received high marks from us. While the contrasts could be somewhat sharper, the overall color scheme is still within an acceptable range. In the header area of the page, we noted a main navigation bar where the biggest product categories can be selected. When visiting the site, you will automatically land on the "Home" page, where you will then be presented with an overview of the 18bet product choices. A side bar on the left presents all the sports available in the 18bet portfolio. When you click on one of the disciplines, a drop-down menu opens with links to the individual leagues and competitions. In addition, a click on the respective sport also changes the middle section of the webpage, which will then only display events relating to the sport you selected. Based on our experience, by default the middle section consists of a selection of current live bets, with the bookmaker further differentiating between other categories such as top bets and last-minute bets. The right side features the betting slip and various topics such as "Fast Bets" or "Combo of the Day". The footer contains general information about the company such as terms & conditions, payment and contact options. In our experience, the loading time of the 18bet website could be a little faster, though it is still in an acceptable range. While the mobile version of the 18bet website is sufficient for the needs of the increasing numbers of users on smartphones and tablets, unlike other bookmakers, 18bet does not yet offer a separate app for installation on various mobile devices. That said, the mobile version of the site does earn points in our 18bet test thanks to a well-thought-out design and acceptable loading times. In other words, this young bookmaker is well equipped to meet the challenges of the betting market of the future, even though they do not yet boast their own app. For a thoroughly successful website with just occasional small weaknesses, our 18bet test awards 8/10 points.

PAYMENT OPTIONS - Solid selection, unfortunately without PayPal

When laying out payment options, 18bet is absolutely transparent and professional. A link in the footer of the website gives you a transparent list of all transfer methods you can use in connection with your betting account on 18bet. There, you will find a clear table of all payment companies with detailed additional information on fees and limits. You can select different countries via a drop-down field in the header area of the page, since the number of transfer options may vary accordingly. Based on our own experience with 18bet, you will have these services to choose from: Skrill, Skrill 1-Tap, Neteller, Webmoney, Boleto, Qiwi, Yandex Money, Sofort, Trustly, SC Bank Transfer, Rapid Transfer, paysafecard, ecopayz, entropay, various credit cards as well as bank transfer. Since PayPal is missing in this list and the selection of other providers is still somewhat restricted, we unfortunately have to deduct points in our 18bet test. Nevertheless, it still suffices for a solid result: 8/10 points.

CUSTOMER SERVICE - Our 18bet experience highlights a need for improvement in German-speaking support

Should you have any questions or problems with your bets, it is good to know that your bookmaker always has an open ear for you. In the course of our 18bet test, we came across 3 different ways to get in touch with the bookmaker: At 18bet, you can email your questions to a support team, use live chat or Facebook 24/7. While 18bet claims on their page that they can also be reached by telephone, details are not provided anywhere, leading to a points deduction in this category of our betting provider test. In addition, customer service is currently very English-oriented, making contact for German customers somewhat difficult without necessary English skills. In total, however, 18bet meets basic customer needs and therefore scores 7/10 points in this test.

PROFESSIONALISM - 18bet leaves no doubt whatsoever as to its serious intentions

In our 18bet test, we noted that this betting provider holds a license from the Caribbean island of Curacao, which leaves no doubt as to this young bookmaker’s professional approach. In addition, 18bet supports initiatives aimed at combating gambling addiction, for which we award additional points. Consequently, 18bet earns the highest possible rating in our review: 10/10 points.

Tipsters from Germany can breathe a sigh of relief when they use 18bet: This young bookmaker does not pass the 5% betting tax on to its customers. In our experience, this is by no means automatic and merits praise in our 18bet review.

CONCLUSION - Young bookmaker with a focused betting product

18bet is a newcomer, only active in the bookmaking market since 2012. Although this inexperience is noticeable on occasion, our 18bet report shows that, in some categories, this bookmaker is certainly able to compete with other online bookies who have been in the business much longer. While the range of 18bet’s betting products is relatively narrow, the depth of those products is not bad at all: In fact, in some countries and football associations, bets are even possible down to the amateur level. Nevertheless, the lack of some more exotic sports as well as the increasingly popular E-sports leads to points deductions. On the other hand, our 18bet test discovered surprisingly good odds, with payout percentages often reaching top levels for the big European leagues. 18bet’s other strengths lie in the design of its website and the mobile version, which is why we see this young bookmaker as having a rosy future. For the moment, however, 18bet is only able to achieve a ranking in the lower mid-range of our betting-provider test: 75/100 points.
